UPPSC GS Paper 1 Syllabus & Marking Scheme - Check Out all Details

The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) conducts various examinations like PCS and ACF / RFO. Group A and Group B Officers are chosen for the state government's administrative services through the UPPSC PCS and ACF/RFO. There are three phases to the exam. The UPPSC Prelims and Mains exams have slightly distinct syllabuses, but as most of the subjects are the same for both exams, candidates should approach both the UPPSC PCS and ACF/RFO syllabuses comprehensively.

  • UPPSC conducts the Uttar Pradesh Combined State/Upper Subordinate exam to recruit candidates for the Group B services. 
  • The UPPSC recruits state government functionaries in provincial civil services and other state services.
  • It’s compulsory for the candidates to qualify the mains in order to be eligible for the last stage i.e Interview.

History

History of Indian Culture will cover the salient aspects of Art Forms, literature, and Architecture from ancient to modern times.

Modern Indian history (from A.D.1757 to A.D. 1947): Significant events, personalities, and issues, etc.

The Freedom Struggle- its various stages and important contributors/contributions from different parts of the country.

Post-independence consolidation and reorganization within the country (till 1965A.D.).

The history of the world will include events from the 18th century to the middle of the 20th century such as the French revolution of 1789, the industrial revolution, the World Wars, redraw of national boundaries, Socialism, Nazism, Fascism etc-their forms and effect on society.

Salient features of Indian Society and culture.

Role of Women in society and women's organization, population, and associated issues, poverty and developmental issues, urbanization, their problems, and their remedies.

Meaning of liberalization, privatization, and globalization and their effects on the economy, polity, and social structure.

Social empowerment, communalism, regionalism & secularism.

Distribution of major natural resources of the World

Water, Soils, and Forests in reference to South and South-East Asia with special reference to India. Factors responsible for the location of industries (with special reference to India).

Geography

Salient features of Physical Geography- Earthquake, Tsunami, Volcanic activity, Cyclone, Ocean Currents, winds, and glaciers.

Oceanic resources of India and their potential.

Human migration-refugee problem of the World with a focus on India.

Frontiers and boundaries with reference to the Indian sub-continent.

Population and Settlements- Types and Patterns, Urbanization, Smart Cities and Smart Villages.

General

Specific knowledge of Uttar Pradesh – History, Culture, Art, Architecture, Festivals, Folk-Dance, Literature, Regional Languages, Heritage, Social Customs, and Tourism.

Specific knowledge of U.P.- Geography- Human and Natural Resources, Climate, Soils, Forest, Wild-Life, Mines and Minerals, Sources of Irrigation.

UPPSC GS Paper 1 Marking Scheme

Candidates should know the marking scheme of the exam which mainly consists of total marks, total weightage, total questions, etc. they give you ease in the exam preparation. You can check the below points for the UPPSC GS Paper 1 Marking Scheme:-

  1. Paper- I will decide the cut-off of the exam,
  2. Paper- II is qualifying in nature, candidates need to score 33% marks in paper II.
  3. There will be a 0.33% negative marking for every incorrect answer.
  4. For e.g., if the maximum marks allotted for a question is 2, then answering it incorrectly would incur a penalty of 0.66 marks
  5. Filling multiple circles on the OMR sheet for the same question would be treated as an incorrect answer and it would lead to a negative marking.
  6. There is no negative marking for leaving a question blank.
