Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFGiven:
Total surface area of a right pyramid, with base as a square of side 8 cm, is 208 cm2
Formula used:
Total surface area = Lateral surface area + Area of the base
Lateral surface area = 1/2 × Perimeter of base × slant height
Calculation:
According to the question,
208 = Lateral surface area + 82
⇒ 208 - 64 = Lateral surface area
⇒ 144 = Lateral surface area
Again,
144 = 1/2 × 4 × 8 × slant height
⇒ 144/16 = slant height
⇒ 9 = slant height
∴ The slant height (in cm) of the pyramid is 9.
