The Agnipath Scheme was announced recently, to enroll individuals as “Agniveer” in the Indian Airforce. The candidates who wish to join the Indian Airforce have to undergo and clear the Indian Airforce Agniveer Recruitment process. The candidates will have to pass the three-phase selection process consisting of an online test, physical strength test, and medical test in order to be shortlisted. The shortlisted individuals will be engaged in the Indian Airforce for a period of 4 years. At the conclusion of the 4 years, the individuals will be eligible for some retirement benefits like Seva Nidhi Fund, priority in job opportunities in different sectors.

• Individuals will get a one-time Seva Nidhi Package of approximately Rs.10.04 lakhs and interest on accumulated amount at the time of discharge after 4 years.
• Reservations for individuals in many State-owned companies under the Ministry of Defence, Central Armed Police Forces, Assam Rifles, and other branches.
• Individuals who are technically capable will get preference in posts in the Ministry of Civil Aviation.
• The individuals can apply for a 3-year special technical educational course provided by the Union Ministry of Education.

Indian Airforce Agniveer Retirement Package 

The individuals enrolled as ‘Agniveer’ will be in the service of the Indian Airforce for a term of 4 years. At the end of the 4 years, the individuals will receive ‘Seva Nidhi’ amount of Rs.10.04 lakhs along with interest on such amount as Indian Airforce Agniveer Retirement Package. There is no tax to be paid on the Seva Nidhi amount.

• In the course of the service, a 30% amount will be deducted from the Agniveer’s monthly income.
• The Indian Government will add an amount equal to the contribution amount of the individual.
• A cumulative amount of Rs.10.04 lakhs and accrued interest will be paid after the completion of 4 years of service.
• The individuals will receive an “Agniveer Skill Certificate” mentioning the skills and level of competency obtained by the individual in the course of the service.

What Are The Opportunities After Retirement?

Individuals retiring from the Indian Airforce as an ‘Agniveer’ have many options that they can explore. The individuals can use the amount received as Indian Airforce Agniveer Retirement Package for self-employment. There are many other options also available to them. • The individuals will have the choice to apply for enrolment in the permanent cadre. From the total enrolment applications, up to 25% will be engaged in the permanent cadre.
