If A and B worked together and after 5 days A left the work and C joined B, and after 3 days C also left the work then find how many days (approx) person B will take to complete the remaining work.

Given:

Person A can complete 25% of the work in 4 days.

Person B can complete 31.25% of the work in 10 days.

Person C can complete the same work in 17 days.

Formula Used:

Efficiency = Total work/Time taken

Calculation:

Person A can complete the total work = 4 × 4 = 16 days                (∵ 25% = 1/4)

Person B can complete the total work = 10 × 16/5 = 32 days         (∵ 31.25% = 5/16)

Let's assume total work = 544 units                                                (LCM of 16, 32, and 17)

Efficiency of A = 544/16 = 34 units/day

Efficiency of B = 544/32 = 17 units/day

Efficiency of C = 544/17 = 32 units/day

Work done by A and B together in 5 days = 5 × (34+17) = 255 units

Work done by C and B together in 3 days = 3 × (17 + 32) = 147 units

Remaining work = 544 - 255 - 147 = 142 units

So 142/17

⇒  8.352 days ≈ 8 days
