Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFGiven:
The 4 digit number x67y is exactly divisible by 9,
Concept Used:
If the number is divisible by 9 so sum of the number is also divisible by 9
Calculation:
x67y is exactly divisible by 9
The sum of its digits must be divisible by 9
x + 6 + 7 + y = x + y + 13 is divisible by 9
Minimum value x + y must be equal to 5 because then the sum will be 18 and it is divisible by 9.
∴ The least value of (x + y) is 5.
Additional Information
The possible value of x and y can be
x = 5, y = 0
x = 4, y = 1
x = 3, y = 2
x = 2, y = 3
x = 1, y = 4
x = 0, y = 5 -- In this case the number became 3 digit number so, this case is not consider.
