C में ++ और -- संकारकों को वृद्धि और ह्रास संकारक कहा जाता है।
वे एकाधारी संचालक होते हैं, जिसे केवल एक ओपेरंड (संकार्य) की आवश्यकता होती है। इसलिए ++ एवं -- संकारक समान प्रभाव के साथ ओपेरंड (संकार्य) से पहले या बाद मेंं दिखाई दे सकते हैं।
जिसका अर्थ है कि i++ और ++i दोनों समकक्ष होंगे।
i++ का अर्थ i = i + 1 है।
⇒ यदि i = 5 दिया गया है, तो i, 6 हो जायेगा।
