In Himachal Pradesh Judiciary, Preliminary Examination is the first stage of the selection process for aspiring Civil Judges in the state judiciary. It is an objective-type exam conducted on an OMR-based system comprising three papers: Civil Law I, Civil Law II & Criminal Law
The duration of the Paper is 3 hours. The Prelims is a screening test and candidates must qualify to proceed to the Mains Examination. In the Prelims exam, there is no negative marking in Himachal Pradesh Judiciary for incorrect answers.
In Himachal Pradesh Judiciary exam syllabus, the Preliminary Examination 2025 evaluates candidates on a wide range of topics to ensure understanding of legal principles.. The exam is structured to test legal knowledge and legal awareness. The Preliminary Exam consists of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) for 300 marks covering various legal subjects.
