JEE Main Counselling 2025: Check Process & Schedule

The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) is the regulatory authority that oversees the admissions to IITs, NITs, IIITs and Other-Government Funded Technical Institutes. Due to the same reason, JEE Main exam counselling is done through JoSAA. JEE Main Counselling 2025 is done in 3 processes i.e., JoSAA, CSAB NEUT and CSAB SFTI, all in the online mode. Counselling for JEE Main 2025 will start after the results are out. Through the counselling, candidates are allotted colleges and Candidates who are allotted a seat are then required to go ahead with the document verification. The most common counselling is through JoSAA. JoSAA is conducting the admission process for allotting seats to 110 participating institutes like the IITs, NITs, IIITs and other-GFTIs. 

  • JoSAA is the combined counselling procedure for admissions of JEE Main and JEE Advanced qualified candidates. 
  • JoSAA counselling is held in six rounds.
  • CSAB NEUT is for extra seats in the North East and Union Territories.
  • CSAB SFTI by Central Seat Allocation Board is for allotting seats in 18 SFTIs.

JEE Main 2025 Counselling Process

Candidates who scored above the JEE Main 2025 cutoff score are eligible for JEE Main 2025 counselling process to get admission to the top colleges like NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs. The candidates who have qualified the JEE Main 2025 must register their profile on the JoSAA website. The candidates would then have to select their preferred college and course based on their ranks and their preferences. Allocation of seats will be an online process. Allocation of these seats is based on parameters like the candidate’s rank, category, and availability of seats. After the seat allocation, the candidates will have to report to the allotted institute for document verification, fee payment and further process.

Steps involved in JEE Mains counselling through JoSAA Counselling are given below:

Step 1: Online Registration

  • Candidates need to complete jee main counselling registration profile on the official website of JoSAA.
  • Candidates can then log in using their JEE Main 2025 Application No, Password and security pin.
  • Candidates should then fill in all the asked information in all the required fields and then click on Submit. 
  • Candidates can reverify all the details given and click on the “Confirm Registration” button. 

Step 2: Choice Filling and Locking

  • Candidates are supposed to select their choices of college and its programs from the list of choices provided. 
  • Candidates can change/edit/delete their filled choices until they are allowed to do so but candidates should lock the choices in the given time. 
  • Choice Locking option is available after each round of JEE Main 2025 Counselling until it is concluded. 

Step 3: JoSAA Seat Allotment

Seat Allotment through JoSAA for JEE Main 2025 depends on the following parameters apart from the order of the choices filled in by the candidates. 

  • Category (Gen./ OBC-NCL/SC, etc.)
  • All India Ranking (AIR) in JEE Main 2025 rank list(s) as issued in the official result. 
  • Priority order of choices selected by the candidate for different institutes and the programmes offered. 
  • If the candidate is eligible for any quota then the availability of seats under different seat quotas is also considered. 

Step 4: Seat Acceptance, Document Verification and Fee

  • After the seat allotment after the analysis of various parameters, candidates need to pay the Seat Acceptance Fee for confirmation of the allotted seat through Net Banking/e-Challan. For all the candidates, the seat acceptance fee is INR 35,000. But for the candidates belonging to SC / ST / PwD category the seat acceptance fee is INR 15,000. 
  • All the related documents will be verified once the student is reporting to the allotted institute.
  • The provisional admission letter will be issued after payment of the fee and verification of the documents, to the candidate. 

Step 5: Reporting to the Allotted Institute

  • Candidates must report to the allotted institute with documents and original certificates for registration.

The candidate’s documents are verified in the registration at the allotted institute. Candidates have to take the following documents for verification.

Eligibility for JEE Main Admission

  • Admissions are given based on All India Rank. 
  • Candidates should have attained at least 75% in the 12th examination but for SC /ST candidates the minimum percentage of marks is 65% in the 12th/equivalent

JEE Main Counselling Eligibility for Admission to B.Arch

  • Eligibility Criteria for architecture courses - B.Arch, candidates should have scored 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and 50% marks aggregate in the qualifying examination. 
  • For B. Planning, the candidate should have attained a minimum aggregate of 50% marks in Mathematics and 50% marks in aggregate of the qualifying examination.

JEE Main Counselling 2025 - CSAB NEUT and CSAB SFTI

CSAB NEUT and CSAB SFTI are counselling procedures that have a similar structure to that of JoSAA. More details are given below. 

CSAB NEUT Counselling 2025

  • JEE Main CSAB NEUT Counselling is conducted by the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) for filling up supernumerary seats in the Northeast Region and Union Territories.

Due to the same reason, JEE Main exam counselling is done through JoSAA. JEE Main Counselling 2025 is done in 3 processes i.e., JoSAA, CSAB NEUT and CSAB SFTI, all in the online mode. Counselling for JEE Main 2025 will start after the results are out. Through the counselling, candidates are allotted colleges and Candidates who are allotted a seat are then required to go ahead with the document verification. The most common counselling is through JoSAA. JoSAA is conducting the admission process for allotting seats to 110 participating institutes like the IITs, NITs, IIITs and other-GFTIs. 

  • JoSAA is the combined counselling procedure for admissions of JEE Main and JEE Advanced qualified candidates. 
  • JoSAA counselling is held in six rounds.
  • CSAB NEUT is for extra seats in the North East and Union Territories.
  • CSAB SFTI by Central Seat Allocation Board is for allotting seats in 18 SFTIs.

JEE Main 2025 Counselling Process

Candidates who scored above the JEE Main 2025 cutoff score are eligible for JEE Main 2025 counselling process to get admission to the top colleges like NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs. The candidates who have qualified the JEE Main 2025 must register their profile on the JoSAA website. The candidates would then have to select their preferred college and course based on their ranks and their preferences. Allocation of seats will be an online process. Allocation of these seats is based on parameters like the candidate’s rank, category, and availability of seats. After the seat allocation, the candidates will have to report to the allotted institute for document verification, fee payment and further process.

Steps involved in JEE Mains counselling through JoSAA Counselling are given below:

Step 1: Online Registration

  • Candidates need to complete jee main counselling registration profile on the official website of JoSAA.
  • Candidates can then log in using their JEE Main 2025 Application No, Password and security pin.
  • Candidates should then fill in all the asked information in all the required fields and then click on Submit. 
  • Candidates can reverify all the details given and click on the “Confirm Registration” button. 

Step 2: Choice Filling and Locking

  • Candidates are supposed to select their choices of college and its programs from the list of choices provided. 
  • Candidates can change/edit/delete their filled choices until they are allowed to do so but candidates should lock the choices in the given time. 
  • Choice Locking option is available after each round of JEE Main 2025 Counselling until it is concluded. 

Step 3: JoSAA Seat Allotment

Seat Allotment through JoSAA for JEE Main 2025 depends on the following parameters apart from the order of the choices filled in by the candidates. 

  • Category (Gen./ OBC-NCL/SC, etc.)
  • All India Ranking (AIR) in JEE Main 2025 rank list(s) as issued in the official result. 
  • Priority order of choices selected by the candidate for different institutes and the programmes offered. 
  • If the candidate is eligible for any quota then the availability of seats under different seat quotas is also considered. 

Step 4: Seat Acceptance, Document Verification and Fee

  • After the seat allotment after the analysis of various parameters, candidates need to pay the Seat Acceptance Fee for confirmation of the allotted seat through Net Banking/e-Challan. For all the candidates, the seat acceptance fee is INR 35,000. But for the candidates belonging to SC / ST / PwD category the seat acceptance fee is INR 15,000. 
  • All the related documents will be verified once the student is reporting to the allotted institute.
  • The provisional admission letter will be issued after payment of the fee and verification of the documents, to the candidate. 

Step 5: Reporting to the Allotted Institute

  • Candidates must report to the allotted institute with documents and original certificates for registration.

Eligibility for JEE Main Admission

  • Admissions are given based on All India Rank. 
  • Candidates should have attained at least 75% in the 12th examination but for SC /ST candidates the minimum percentage of marks is 65% in the 12th/equivalent

JEE Main Counselling Eligibility for Admission to B.Arch

  • Eligibility Criteria for architecture courses - B.Arch, candidates should have scored 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and 50% marks aggregate in the qualifying examination. 
  • For B. Planning, the candidate should have attained a minimum aggregate of 50% marks in Mathematics and 50% marks in aggregate of the qualifying examination.
