The Assam Agricultural University Veterinary Entrance Test (AAU VET) was the entrance test conducted by the Assam Agricultural University which set the AAU VET eligibility to select candidates for various UG, PG, and Ph.D. programs offered at the University. Candidates are selected for the Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry Course, and the courses offered under the Veterinary Science domain are BVSc & AH, MVSc, and Ph.D. The criteria for the AAU VET Eligibility include age limit, number of attempts, and qualifying exam. All the essential and relevant eligibility criteria for the AAU VET exam are provided in the following article.

AAU VET Eligibility Criteria 2022

Eligibility Criteria for AAU VET 2022 are listed below. Candidates have to fulfill the eligibility criteria for that particular course for which they want to apply. If any candidates find ineligible at any stage, then their candidature gets cancelled on the spot.

Educational Qualification

Candidates should have cleared a specific qualifying examination to be eligible to write the exam. The educational qualification required for each course is provided below.

UG Programme

10+2 passed students from the science stream, having the certificate of Permanent residence of Assam and NER (for HFC seats) only should apply for the test.
The students appearing in the qualifying exam are also eligible to sit in the Common Entrance test 2022 but shall have to pass the 10+2 exam before the date of admission.
Candidates must have passed the qualifying examination in one sitting or in betterment examination in a minimum of four subjects as per the Board’s criteria.
Students who passed out from the Board accredited by AIU & NIOS with Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB) or Physics, Chemistry and Agriculture (PCA) are eligible for applying to the courses.

B.Sc. (Hons) Community Science/ Food Nutrition & Dietetics degree programme	Passed Higher Secondary/ 10+2/ Intermediate examination with Physics, Chemistry & Biology (PCB) or Physics, Chemistry & Agriculture (PCAg) or Physics, Chemistry & Home Science (PCHSc.) as subjects from a recognized University or Board including that of NIOS.
VLEW, VFA, F.D. & S.D	Passed at least Higher Secondary/ 10+2 or equivalent examinations in science group with Physics, Chemistry & Biology (or Botany and Zoology in place of Biology) and must have passed in all subjects in one sitting

PG Programme

Selection of the candidates for admission into Master’s Degree Programmes shall be based on the NTA score (2022-23) obtained by the candidates in ICAR’s AIEEA (PG) during the academic session 2022-23. A Common Merit List based on the NTA score shall be prepared for all the Faculties separately.

OR Minimum 4 year degree in Agriculture/ Horticulture/ Home Science/ Fisheries Science/ B.V.Sc/ Biotechnology/ Food Science/ Food & Nutritionand allied disciplines. M. Sc. (Agri) Degree Programme in Sericulture	Passed B.Sc. with Zoology, Chemistry and Botany, preferably with honours in Zoology. For fresh students, the candidate must have passed B.Sc.(Seri)/B.Sc.(Hons.) Sericulture from any recognized University Candidates with B.Sc. (Agri)/ B.Sc. (Hons) Agriculture, with equivalent CGPA are also eligible to apply. However, preference will be given to B.Sc.(Seri)/ B.Sc.(Hons.) Sericulture students for admission into M.Sc.(Agri) Sericulture programme.
MBA (Agri-Business) Degree Programme	Passed the B.Sc. (Agri), B.E. (Agril. Engineering), B.Sc. (Dairy Science), B.Sc. (Home Science), B.F.Sc. or B.Sc. (Forestry), B.Sc.(Hons) Agri/ Hort/ H.Sc./ Forestry/ B.Tech (Ag. Engg.) of four year duration or BVSc & AH degree examination of 5 or 5 and a half year duration from any recognized University.
M. Sc. (Agri) degree programme in Biotechnology	Passed bachelors degree of 4-year duration in Agriculture/ Horticulture/ Forestry/ Sericulture from AAU or any recognized University. Candidates with a bachelor degree in Biochemistry/ Bioinformatics/ Biotechnology/ Botany/ Microbiology can also appear for the exam. In such cases, they should undergo a bridge courses, as determined by the University. Preference will remain with the graduates in agriculture and allied sectors.
M. Sc. Degree Programme in Agricultural Biotechnology	Candidates shall be selected on basis of the Graduate Aptitude Test in Biotechnology (GAT‐B), conducted nationally by DBT or DBT‐approved agencies. Must have ‐ passed B. Sc. (Agri)/ B. Sc. (Hort.)/ B. Sc. (Agric. Biotech)/ B.Sc. (Seri)/ B. Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture/ Horticulture/ Fisheries/ Forestry/ Sericulture/ Home/ Community Science, from AAU or any other recognized university. OR Passed B.Sc. in Biology/ Botany/ Zoology/ Life Sciences/ Biotechnology/ Bioinformatics/ Biochemistry /Microbiology from a recognized University.
M. Sc. (Agri) degree programme in Bio‐Chemistry and Agril. Chemistry	Passed B.Sc. in Agriculture/ Horticulture/ Forestry/ Sericulture or B.Sc in Chemistry/ Bio‐Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Life Science/ Fishery/ Diary/ Food Science and/or Food Technology/ Food Science & Nutrition degree from any recognized university.
M. V. Sc. degree programme in Animal Biotechnology	Passed B.V.Sc& A.H. from a recognized university. 10 seats are open for candidates qualifying Graduate Aptitude Test in Biotechnology (GAT‐B), conducted nationally by DBT or DBT‐approved agencies.

Ph.D. Programme

Selection of the candidates for admission into Ph.D. Degree Programs shall be based on the NTA score (2022-23) obtained by the candidates in ICAR’s AICE-JRF/SRF (Ph.D.) during the academic session 2022-23.

Faculties of Agriculture, Community Science and Fisheries Science	Passed M.Sc. (Agri)/ M.Sc.(H.Sc.)/ M.F.Sc. (as the case may be) degree examinations in the concerned discipline of this University or any other University recognized by this University with basic degree in Agriculture/ Home Science/ Fisheries Science. Considering the HR needs in the field of Biotechnology, 30% of the total intake of the Ph.D. programme in the Department of Agricultural Biotechnology under the Faculty of Agriculture shall be made open to the Non-Agri students completing 10+2+3+2 pattern mastering in Biochemistry/ Bioinformatics/ Biotechnology/ Botany/ Microbiology. Such students shall have to undergo a bridge course, either simultaneously or separately. Candidates interested to pursue Ph.D. programme in Tea Husbandry & Technology shall have to clear an Entrance Test to be conducted by the concerned Department on a date to be notified separately.
Faculty of Veterinary Science	Passed M.V.Sc. examination in concerned discipline of this University or any other University recognized by this University with the basic degree in Veterinary Science.

Age Limit

The age limit provided for the courses is as follows.

UG Programme

The age limits provided for the UG programme candidates are as follows.

The candidates who wish to join the UG programmes other than the BVSc & AH should be at least 16 years as on 1st of September 2022.
For BVSc & AH candidates, they should be between the minimum age of 17 and the maximum age of 25 on or before the 31st of December 2022.
There is a relaxation of 5 years for the SC/ ST/ OBC candidates.

PG Programme

There is no specific age limit provided. Candidates should fulfil all the other eligibility criteria to qualify for the examination.

PhD Programme

There is no specific age limit provided. Candidates should fulfil all the other eligibility criteria to qualify for the examination.

A candidate for the undergraduate degree program shall be at least 16 years of age as on 01-09-2022 (i.e., must have been born before 01-09-2006).

The minimum marks needed for the candidates are as follows.

UG Programme

The candidates who wish to join the UG programmes should qualify the minimum marks criteria as provided below.

M. V. Sc. degree programme in Animal Biotechnology	A minimum CGPA of 2.60/4.00 or 3.25/5.00 or 6.60/10.00 scale. In case where Grade points are not awarded, only marks are awarded, the candidate must have secured at least 60% marks.	A minimum CGPA of 2.20/4.00 or 2.75/5.00 or 5.60/10.00 scale. PhD Programme

The candidates who wish to join the PhD programme should qualify the minimum marks criteria as given below.

Faculty of Veterinary Science	A minimum CGPA of 2.60 out of 4.00 scale or 6.50 out of 10.00 scale. OR A minimum of 60.00% marks in the traditional marking system.	A minimum CGPA of 2.60 out of 4.00 scale or 6.50 out of 10.00 scale. OR A minimum of 60.00% marks in the traditional marking system.

Number of Attempts

There is no limit to the number of attempts specified for any of three courses. Candidates have to fulfil all other eligibility criteria to qualify for the examination.

AAU VET Eligibility Criteria on Nationality

The candidates having Permanent residence in Assam and NER (for HFC seats) are eligible to apply for the examination. Therefore, the candidates must be Indian Citizens. There are provisions available for Foreign Nationals too.

AAU VET Eligibility Criteria for Foreign/NRI Students

Applicants under NRI/NRI Sponsored Quota shall apply online within the prescribed date.

Eligibility

For admission into the UG degree program candidates must have passed the 12th standard from an Indian Board or an equivalent Board outside the country securing 50 percent marks in each of the subjects of Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and English.
Applicants shall have to submit the following documents as an attachment on online mode, along with the application form, and shall have to produce/submit the documents in original at the time of reporting.

The NRI and NRI sponsored candidates, if selected, shall pay the fee of USD 20,000/- or Indian equivalent in three installments.
For a Post Graduate degree program, the candidate must fulfill the criteria specified in the above subheading of Eligibility.

Major Changes in the AAU VET Eligibility Criteria 2022

Other than all the major pieces of information provided above, there has been just one major change for the AAU VET. Earlier, the AAU VET Entrance exam used to get conducted by the authority separately. Now, it has been combined with the Common Entrance Test (CET) for UG candidates and the AIEEA Exam by ICAR for PG and Ph.D. candidates.

PG Program

Reservation under different categories shall be considered as per current rules and regulations of the Government as applicable. Statutory reservation viz. OBC/ MOBC, SC, STP, and STH will be prepared based on total seats under PG programs separately for each Faculty.
25% of total seats in a Faculty shall be reserved for the candidates sponsored by the ICAR.
1 seat in each of the departments is reserved for in-service candidates sponsored/deputed by the University or other Agencies (ICAR/Government/Board).
3% of seats in a Faculty shall be reserved for differently abled persons.

Eligibility for Admission to Participating Colleges for AAU VET 2022

Students who clear AAU VET 2022 and secure a valid rank will be allotted admission in various UG and PG courses through AAU VET Counselling and seat allotment.

To get admission to top participating colleges for AAU VET 2022, the candidate must pass the AAU VET 2022 Exam with the given minimum cut-off.
Candidates will have to register by providing the required information to participate in the AAU VET counselling and seat allotment.

Students must note that the respective institutes have the liberty to cancel the admission if the institute authorities find any false information at the time of the admission process.

The Assam Agricultural University Veterinary Entrance Test (AAU VET)

was previously conducted by the Assam Agricultural University to select candidates for UG, PG, and PhD programmes in Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry. However, this year, the AAU VET Entrance Exam will not be conducted separately. Instead, the Veterinary Science programmes' entrance examination will be included in the CETUG exam along with other UG and PG entrance tests. Interested candidates can register for the exam through the official admission portal of the university. For PG programmes, candidates need to clear the AIEEA examination conducted by the ICAR, and their NTA scores will be considered for admissions. It is important for candidates to refer to the Syllabus and Exam Pattern to understand the question types and plan their preparation accordingly.
