Download Solution PDFThere are six baskets — Green, Red, Blue, Yellow, Black and White. Each basket has some rings in it. The average number of rings in all the six baskets is 38. If the blue basket is removed, the average number of rings in the remaining baskets is 34. How many rings are there in the blue basket?
Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFGiven:
There are six baskets — Green, Red, Blue, Yellow, Black, and White
The average number of rings in all six baskets is 38
After removing the blue basket, an Average of 5 baskets = 34
Formula Used:
Average = \(\frac{Sum\space of \space observation}{Total \space observation}\)
Calculations:
The average of 6 baskets is 38
Average = \(\frac{Sum\space of \space observation}{Total \space observation}\)
Sum of rings in 6 basket = Average x Total observation = 38 x 6 = 228
After removing the blue basket
The average of 5 baskets is 34
Average = \(\frac{Sum\space of \space observation}{Total \space observation}\)
Sum of rings in 5 basket = Average x Total observation = 34 x 5 = 170
Ring in blue basket = Sum of rings in 6 basket - Sum of rings in 5 basket = 228 - 170 = 58 rings
Hence, The rings in the blue basket are 58 rings
