HCF × LCM = 48 

the two numbers differ by 13

Concept used:

HCF × LCM = Product of numbers

Calculation:

Let the two numbers be ‘x’ & ‘y’

⇒ x × y = 48

⇒ x – y = 13 

⇒ Factors of xy = 48 are (1, 48), (2, 24), (3, 16), (4, 12), (6, 8)

⇒ The only pair which satisfies both the conditions is (3, 16)

Hence, '3 and 16' is the correct answer.
