Question
Download Solution PDFRaju, Sunil and Vishal can separately finish a work in 20, 30 and 40 days, respectively. In how many days Raju can finish the work, if he is assisted by Sunil and Vishal on alternate days, starting with Sunil?
Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFGiven:
Raju finishes work in = 20 days
Sunil finishes work in = 30 days
Vishal finishes work in = 40 days
Concept used:
Total work done = LCM(20,30,40)
= 120
Work done by Raju in 1 day(R) = \({120\over20}=6\)
Work done by Sunil in 1 day (S)= \({120\over30}=4\)
Work done by Vishal in 1 day (V)= \({120\over40}=3\)
Calculation:
Work done on first day collectively:
R+S+V = 6+4+0 = 10
Work done on second day collectively:
R+S+V = 6 + 0 + 3 = 9
So it will take 12 days to complete 114 work
on 13th day the turn will be of Raju and sunil and they will do 10 work in 1 day
6 work is still remaining
Days to required complete 6 work = \({6\over10}={3\over5}\)
Total days to complete 120 work = 12 + \(3\over5\)
\(={63\over5}\)
\(={12{{3} \over 5}}\)
∴ Raju can finish work in \(\bf {12{{3} \over 5}}\) days .
