Constant Area Variable Head Flow Meter:
The devices have constant area and variable pressure drop meters. In all these instruments, a suitable obstruction is placed in the flow path. The pressure drop across the obstruction is a function of fluid velocity. By measuring this pressure drop, the fluid velocity and hence volumetric flow may be inferred.
Orifice meters, Venturimeter, and flow nozzles are examples of this type of element.
