एक संधारित्र फ़िल्टर के साथ एक दिष्टकारी की व्यवस्था को नीचे दर्शाया गया है:
XC और R के मान का चयन इस प्रकार किया गया है जिससे |XC| < < RL है।
अर्थात् अर्ध तरंग वाले दिष्टकारी के लिए
पूर्ण तरंग वाले दिष्टकारी के लिए
- चूँकि संधारित्र (C) और RL समानांतर में हैं, इसलिए वे धारा विभाजक परिपथ निर्मित करते हैं।
- उच्च आवृत्तियों के लिए संधारित्र एक लघु परिपथ के रूप में कार्य करेगा, अर्थात् अधिकतम धारा Iac संधारित्र के माध्यम से प्रवाहित होती है और बहुत निम्न AC धारा R के माध्यम से प्रवाहित होती है।
- उसीप्रकार, चूँकि संधारित्र DC के लिए एक खुले परिपथ की तरह व्यवहार करता है, इसलिए IDC, R के माध्यम से प्रवाहित होगी।
