Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFGiven:
A single discount of 48 percent is given on Rs. 1080.
Two successive discounts of 25 percent and 20 percent are given,
Formula Used:
Single discount equivalent to two successive discounts of a % and b %
= (a + b - \(\frac{a \space × \space b}{100}\) ) %
Calculation:
Here, a = 25 % , and b = 20 %
So, the single discount = (20 + 25 - \(\frac{20 \space × \space 25}{100}\)) %
⇒ (45 - 5) %
⇒ 40 %
Selling price after getting 48% discount,
⇒ 1080 × 52 /100 = Rs 561.60
Selling price after getting 40% discount,
⇒1080 × 60 /100 = Rs 648
The difference in selling price will be
⇒ 648 - 561.60 = Rs 86.40
∴ The correct option is 4
