Cloze Test Question 1 Detailed Solution
- The passage discusses the need for government action to support farmers in the context of increased production costs due to the lack of rain.
- The word used should indicate the start or creation of government actions to address this issue.
- "Initiate" means to begin or start something, which fits well in this context as the government needs to start initiatives to help farmers.
- Other options ("ignore", "encourage", "halt", "prevent") do not appropriately convey the idea of starting new actions to support farmers.
Without regular precipitation, water levels in rivers and ponds drop, impacting natural sources of irrigation. As a result, farmers are forced to depend on more expensive alternatives, such as tube wells or tankers. In such circumstances, the government must initiate initiatives to support farmers, including subsidies on irrigation or drought-resistant crops.
- Ignore (अनदेखा करना): "Ignore" means to deliberately pay no attention to, which doesn't fit the context of taking action.

- The word used should indicate what is financially left for farmers after all expenses, even if not the final gain.
- "Income" means the money received regularly, which fits the context of the overall financial inflow for farmers in this scenario.
- Other options ("debt", "profit", "surplus", "yield") do not fit as well in the context of overall financial inflow despite production costs.
Without regular precipitation, water levels in rivers and ponds drop, impacting natural sources of irrigation. - "Natural" means existing in or caused by nature, which fits well in this context as the passage is discussing natural water sources.
- Other options ("alternate", "regional", "local", "artificial") do not appropriately convey the idea of sources that are naturally occurring and thus impacted by natural phenomena like rainfall.

- Local (स्थानीय): "Local" means belonging or relating to a particular area, which does not describe the nature of the water sources being impacted.
- Artificial (कृत्रिम): "Artificial" means made or produced by human beings rather than occurring naturally, which is the opposite of what is needed in this context.
