Russia, in response to Kyiv’s Operation Spiderweb, launched over 400 drones and 40 missiles targeting almost the entire Ukraine overnight. At least six people were reportedly killed and 80 others were injured in one of the heaviest aerial bombardments. Nine regions, including Kyiv, Lviv, and Sumy, were affected in the devastating attack.
Ukrainian President Condemns Russia’s Actions
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy took to his X to share the update. He said, “Today, rescue and emergency operations continued all day across various regions and cities of our country. Over 400 drones, more than 40 missiles were launched by the Russians. 80 people were injured, and some may still be under the debris. And unfortunately, not everyone in the world condemns such attacks. This is exactly what Putin exploits. He is buying himself time to keep waging war.”

Attack On Ukraine Comes Hours After Trump Spoke To Putin
The footage of the assault, circulating online, showed missiles bombarding the war-torn country with fierce lightning that illuminated the night. The explosions come just hours after the US President Donald Trump discussed the recent Ukrainian attack on Russia with his counterpart, Vladimir Putin, over a tense phone conversation. During the call, which Trump said lasted for “approximately one hour and 15 minutes,” he discussed the strike on Russia’s docked airplanes along with other attacks. Putin’s statement that “he will have to respond to the recent attack on the airfields” suggested the possibility of a strong retaliatory action which the world saw yesterday night.
Ukrainian Defences Intercepted 30 Missiles And 200 Drones
According to reports, Ukrainian defences were able to intercept around 30 missiles and 200 drones. Condemning Russia’s actions, Zelenskyy further stated, “The Russians constantly try to drive wedges into the unity of the world in order to prevent stronger pressure for their war. We must clearly see the task at hand. Diplomacy must work, security guarantees must be ensured, and peace must be established. For that, initial steps are needed, particularly a ceasefire. Pressure must be applied on Russia to make that happen and to stop the attacks.”
