In an attention-grabbing moment from the IPL 2025 match between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Lucknow SuperGiants (LSG), a woman in the crowd stole the spotlight not with her cheer, but with a dramatic ultimatum.
During the match at Lucknow Stadium, the woman stood in the packed stands next to her husband, holding up a bold poster written in Hindi that read: “RCB agar final nahi jeeti toh mein apne pati ko talaak de dungi (If RCB doesn’t win the final, I’ll divorce my husband)”.
She wore a bright red saree, her phone tucked at her waist, and held her sign high for the cameras and cricket spectators. Her poster had another layer, her Instagram handle, which led many to think this was merely a publicity stunt to be ‘trending.’

Soon enough spectators nearby took notice, recorded video selfies with her- and from then on social media was flooded. As the video went viral, social media users couldn’t stop laughing and feeling concerned.
While some users dismissed it as an obvious fame-seeking stunt, others questioned the rationale of dragging and deciding to end a marital relationship over a cricket match.

“Pati ki kya galti hai? (What’s the husband’s fault)”, many users exclaimed online, which reflects a growing dissatisfaction that their joke had gone too far.
While a divorce can be a serious decision that includes the lives of multiple people and families, the female RCB fans’ apparent decision to divorce if her IPL team lost the cup was widely criticized online as not a legitimate reason to break a relationship.
