Everyone considers it tough to replace Virat Kohli, but Monty Panesar has mentioned the player he feels is fully ready for that role and equipped with the skills. While chatting with InsideSport, Panesar has discussed his thoughts on that player. Panesar thinks that Sai Sudarshan could become a major star in the world of Indian cricket. Kohli has talent and he has the potential to continue what Kohli accomplished in Test cricket.

In the interview, when Panesar was asked “Can anyone replace Virat Kohli”, Panesar replied, “Yes, there are some really talented youngsters in the team, and one batsman in particular stands out, Sai Sudharsan, who played for Surrey as an overseas player. He is very aggressive, fearless, and has done well in English conditions.”

The former English spinner said, “I believe he has the potential to become the next big star of Indian cricket”. Sudarshan has scored 1957 runs in 29 first-class matches, including a memorable double century against Delhi at the Arun Jaitley Stadium during the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy season.
Let us tell you that Sai Sudarshan played for the county team Surrey in 2023 and got his cap from Alec Stewart. Earlier, India’s new captain, Shubman Gill, indicated that the team management would decide on the batting order after India’s intra-squad match starting on June 13. Gill said, “We haven’t really decided yet…we still have some time. We will play intra-squad matches and we will have a 10-day camp in London, so we still have some time. I think we can decide on the batting order after going there.”
