‘His Wait To Win…’ Virender Sehwag On Virat Kohli Fulfilling His IPL Dream With RCB’s Maiden Title

Virender Sehwag stated that Kohli’s goal of securing an IPL title for the first time is similar to Sachin Tendulkar’s aim to win the ODI World Cup.

Finally after wating for 18 seasons, Virat Kohli and Royal hallengers Bengaluru were able to win the IPL Trophy. Sehwag stated that Kohli’s goal of securing an IPL title for the first time is similar to Sachin Tendulkar’s aim to win the ODI World Cup. Sachin began playing for India in 1989, but it took over 21 years before the team won the World Cup for the country. Their ODI World Cup victory took place for the first time in 1983 and they managed to do it again in 2011.

Virender Sehwag’s Statement

“His (Kohli’s) wait to win the trophy is only 18 years. Sachin Tendulkar waited from 1989 to 2011. So, Kohli’s wait was shorter, and even Sachin never lost hope. He had made up his mind, he would only bow out with a World Cup trophy in his hand,” Sehwag told Cricbuzz.

“It’s the same for Virat Kohli. Now, he can be relieved. He can happily stop playing IPL whenever he wants to make that decision. A player plays to win the trophy. Money comes and goes, but winning trophies isn’t easy. And even as Kohli’s wait ended, he has still made a very strong contribution in their campaign,” said Sehwag.

What Happened In The RCB Vs PBKS Match

After defeating Punjab Kings by 6 runs in the final match, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) won the IPL trophy. It was Rajat Patidar’s leadership that helped the team with Virat Kohli claim the IPL trophy 18 years after its inception. Beginning with bowling allowed Punjab to restrict Royal Challengers Bangalore to 190/9, thanks mainly to 3 wickets by Arshdeep Singh and 3 wickets from Kyle Jamieson. Virat Kohli hit 43 runs from only 35 deliveries in the match. RCB faced many challenges early on because several players left the team. Two wickets each were taken by Bhuvneshwar Kumar (2 for 38) and Krunal Pandya (2 for 17) which restricted PBKS to 184 for the loss of 7 wickets at the end.
