Chief Minister MK Stalin expressed his shock and sadness over the deaths, saying, “I was shocked and saddened to hear about the deaths from adulterated liquor in Kallakurichi. The people responsible for this crime have been arrested, and action has been taken against the officials who failed to prevent it.”

Stalin added that immediate action will be taken if the public reports those involved in such crimes. He promised to suppress these harmful crimes with an iron fist.

Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi also expressed his condolences for the lives lost and wished for the quick recovery of those affected. In a post by the Tamil Nadu Raj Bhavan, he said, “I was very shocked to learn that many lives were lost in Kallakurichi due to counterfeit liquor. Many others are critically ill. My heartfelt condolences to the grieving families and wishes for a speedy recovery to those in the hospital.”

The governor also expressed concern about recurring reports of deaths from illicit liquor across the state. The post added, “News of deaths from spurious liquor regularly emerges from various parts of our state. This shows ongoing failures in controlling illegal alcohol production and consumption, which is very concerning.”
