Monsoon Alert: In a comprehensive rainfall warning, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted extremely torrential downpours over several states in the coming week. Intense rain has been forecast, especially over Gujarat, Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, and Marathawada during 22nd-27th June, 2025. Additionally, the Weather Body said that heavy to very heavy rain is likely to continue over Northeast India during the next 7 days.
IMD Forecast Rapid Advance Of Southwest Monsoon
In its latest press release, IMD said that the southwest monsoon is rapidly advancing towards the remaining parts of the North Arabian Sea, some parts of Rajasthan, West Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, and Ladakh during the next 2 days. Meanwhile, it added that conditions are now also favourable for further advances over the remaining parts of Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh, and Delhi at the same time.
Delhi To Get Rain From June 22
With monsoon now pushing further north, East and Central India are at risk of receiving heavy showers over the next week. If the forecast holds, 2025 will be considered the earliest arrival of monsoon, particularly in Delhi, since 2013. The start of June saw a prolonged heatwave; however, it changed mid-month, as widespread rains lashed several regions. IMD forecasts that the national capital may get rain from today itself.
IMD Warns Of Continuous Rain Over…
After the monsoon took a break for about 18 days, from May 29 to June 16, the places that are witnessing respite from heatwave include Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha. However, IMD warns that the continuous, incessant rains in the above-mentioned places can lead to significant traffic disruptions and waterlogging, from June 22 to 27.
