Fact Check: As the US conducted ‘Operation Midnight Hammer’ to destroy three major Iranian nuclear sites, some claims began circulating on social media that Indian airspace was used in the military action. The Fact Check unit of the Press Information Bureau (PIB) has debunked this report and called it as fake. Several posts on X, claimed that the US military had used Indian airspace to carry out their strikes. Sahar Emami, an Iranian journalist, was one of the users who propagated this claim.
Was Indian Airspace Used By The US? PIB Clarifies
In a post on X on Sunday, the PIB Fact Check stressed that the Indian Airspace was not used by the United States during Operation Midnight Hammer.
Dismissing the claims, the fact check unit wrote on X, “Several social media accounts have claimed that Indian Airspace was used by the United States to launch aircrafts against Iran during Operation #MidnightHammer. This claim is FAKE ❌Indian Airspace was NOT used by the United States during Operation #MidnightHammer.”

Notably, General Dan Caine on Sunday, stated that Operation Midnight Hammer was designed to “severely degrade Iran’s nuclear weapons infrastructure”. He even presented a detailed map and timeline of the strikes, none of which shows any US aircraft entering the Indian airspace.

Meanwhile, following the US attack on Iran’s nuclear sites, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. PM Modi expressed serious concern over the escalating tension in the region and emphasised the need for immediate dialogue and diplomatic efforts to calm the situation.
In a post on X, PM Modi wrote, “Spoke with President of Iran @drpezeshkian. We discussed in detail about the current situation. Expressed deep concern at the recent escalations.
