Accused Killed By Fellow Inmates Over Past Animosity In Delhi’s Saket Court Lockup

An inmate, Aman killed by two other inmates, Jitender and Jaidev inside Saket Court lockup. As per Delhi Police, Jitender and Aman had an old animosity due to an incident of assault that happened in 2024 when they both were outside the jail.

In a shocking incident, a man who was undertrial strangled by two prisoners inside the Saket court lockup in Delhi. The deceased has been identified as Aman. Both prisoners,  Jitender and Jaidev, have strangled him over an old animosity in 2024.

The victim was rushed to hospital, but he was declared dead.

According to reports, the incident occurred when the prisoners were taken to court for hearing. They were lodged in lock up. In between, Aman was attacked by Jitender and Jaidev after a fight broke out between them.

Additional DCP (Deputy Commissioner of Police) in South Delhi, Sumit Kumar Jha says, “Around 10 am, we received information from the lock up of Saket court that an inmate, Aman, has been seriously injured…Aman fought with Jitender and Jaidev. There is an old rivalry between Aman and Jitender…There was an argument between Aman and Jaidev in the morning…Aman was admitted to the hospital, where he succumbed to injuries…They all were undertrial prisoners.”

Aman had attacked Jitender and his brother in 2024

The initial probe suggested that Aman had attacked Jitender and his brother with a knife in 2024.

“This is a condemnable incident. It raises serious questions about the court’s security. A fight broke out between three inmates. No weapon was involved. Aman’s head hit the wall, and that’s how he died. The police are doing a detailed investigation. Things are normal now,” PTI quoted Bar Association President Anil Basoya as saying.

Police registered a case against the prisoners

The police sent the body for postmortem and a case has been registered. The police said that a probe has been launched into the matter to ascertain the motive behind the clash.

Man sits with wife’s body for an hour after slitting her throat

On June 4, a shocking incident unfolded in Gorakhpur’s Sahjanwa area on Wednesday morning, where a man allegedly killed his wife and later went to the Sahjanwa police station to surrender. According to reports, he murdered her over suspicion of an extramarital affair. The accused, identified as Angad Sharma, reportedly slit his wife’s throat at their apartment, located in Bahilpar village.

After killing her, he even sat beside the body for about an hour before surrendering to the police. NDTV quoted accused Sharma as telling officers, “I have killed my wife. Her body is at home.” Following the shocking revelation, a police team reached the spot and found the victim’s body lying on the bed, covered with blood. A forensic team also arrived at the spot to collect evidence.
