A Jaipur special court on Tuesday awarded life imprisonment to all four accused- Shahbaz Hussain, Sarwar Azmi, Mohammad Saif, and Saifur Rahman in connection with the 2008 Jaipur serial bomb blast.

All four accused were previously convicted for eight serial bomb blasts in 2019. They were sentenced to death, but the verdict was overturned by the Rajasthan High Court in March 2023.
A special leave petition was filed by the state government and the victims of the blasts in the Supreme Court which is pending before the top court.
Accused convicted under various sections of IPC
Justice Ramesh Kumar Joshi pronounced the quantum of punishment. He convicted all the accused on April 4 in the case. The court convicted the accused under section 120-B, 121-A ,124-A,153-A, 307, section 18 of Unlawful Activity (Prevention) Act -1967 of Indian Penal Code.
Serial blasts claimed 71 lives
A live bomb was recovered near Chandpole Hanuman temple. After hearing the verdict, it seems that all four accused had no remorse. On May 13, 2008, the serial blasts claimed 71 lives and left 200 people injured.
The serial blasts had taken place at Manak Chowk Khanda, Chandpole Gate, Badi Chaupad, Chhoti Chaupad, Tripolia Gate, Johri Bazar and Sanganeri Gate.
