After all, with her marriage to actor Ranbir Kapoor, fans believe with a recent Reddit theory that Alia may have already officially changed her name to Alia Kapoor. The clue? In a tiny but telling detail of her recent Cannes vlog.

Alia lately launched a YouTube vlog that looked into her behind-the-scenes experience in anticipation of her red carpet appearance at the Cannes Film Festival where she was the face of Loreal. In the scene, the audience saw a message on a hotel display reading, “Dear Alia Kapoor.”
This little detail created web interest. Several Reddit users posted a screenshot of the same, and most of them were of the opinion that it would mean that Alia had legally changed her surname as she was wedded to Ranbir in April 2022.

The best Reddit comment stated, “It is likely she had legally changed her name to her husband’s name and kept Bhatt as her screen name.” Some others clarified that such hotel alerts are usually sent in reference to formal IDs through which the booking was made, which supports the theory of a legal change of name. One of them logicaled: How would a hotel in France have known her husband name unless it was listed on the reservation? Reservations typically mirror what is on legal documents.
But not everyone agreed. Other people calculated that because she was married it might have been simply an error on the part of the hotel or they had taken the surname.

This led to a social media debate. Some were concerned with patriarchy while others said the change was individual to her. To me, though, she is and will always be Alia Bhatt, wrote one fan in a comment. Its name has become a brand. One user recalled how Alia had acted on Koffee With Karan and teased herself as Alia Bhatt Kapoor, to which Ranveer Singh responded that it sounds nice.
